Verification and Validation (V&V) Workshop

The purpose of the Workshop was to address the additional V&V requirements brought about by Joint and distributed testing: for M&S, methods & processes, and the distributed environment. The environment is defined as terrain (natural and man made), weather, time of year, time of day, ambient spectral representation, mission, scenario, threads, architecture (connectivity, communications protocols, data interchange formats), and the test network. It is assumed that a basic Service V&V capability for traditional testing exists as a baseline. Distributed testing is defined as a test event facilitated by a network connecting multiple locations with mutually interacting elements. The elements may be on a single range or multiple ranges. Distributed testing should complement conventional testing, following the same basic processes with additional steps added for distributed participation.
